In the late 1980's some fellow members of a shooting syndicate "invited" me to join the committee organising
the BASC West of Scotland Field Sports Fair.
Naively, I agreed, only to discover that my involvement in the Fair was to
be the event commentator.
Their flattering comments about my clear, easy-to-listen-to voice, cheerful personality and my
comprehensive knowledge of field sports persuaded me to give it a go, and I have been forever grateful to them.
Since then, in addition to numerous one-off Game Fairs & other country events, I have had the hugely enjoyable experience of providing commentaries on a regular basis for the Countryside Arena at the Royal Highland Show, the Country Fair Arena at the Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Scotland's Countryside Festival at Glamis Castle.
Event organisers know they can rely on me to cope, calmly, with the problems that inevitably occur.
The public enjoy
listening to me, and the demonstrators, with whom I build excellent relationships, know they will receive a knowledgeable and
enthusiastic introduction. Also I regularly receive favourable comments from the trade stand holders, who can be the sternest
of critics; to quote a recent one -
"I attend a lot of these events throughout the UK and you are one of the best I have
heard and you speak a lot of sense, ...for a woman!"
